Hi! Only just became a member but been drinking in Bath since 1974-ish (on and off) and have seen a lot of changes. Beaufort Arms was a fave of mine back in the 70's and early 80's but having lived in various areas in Bath I can honestly say that I've been in all of the Bath pubs that are still standing! (And a few that are gone now - Beaufort, Seven Stars upp. boro walls, Broadleys dugout, etc, Windsor Castle, etc) When I was a kid, there was a lovely pub up behind the Approach Golf Course (I think it was called the Retreat) remember playing on the swing in the garden, etc. anyway, I certainly agree that the really good old pubs are disappearing and it is a shame. But it's called progress, I suppose. Still, this is a very intersting and useful site and I'll be back soon!

Nice website - making my trip much more enjoyable when the girlfriend goes to the Jane Austin stuff I can wander to a few proper pubs!

Demise of a heritage city

Great site if only to show, the demise of this once great city.I mean of course the renaming of classic pubs in Bath by the new owners, and the interior yuppifiation thereof.Lavingtons,(know where that was)Regency? The ultimate sacrilege of course is the Hat.I mean WTF is the hudson bar nd grill, when its out.I once walked into Mooneys in San Francisco, got chattin to people, and when they found out I was from Bath,"hey d'ya know that amazin pub the Hat and Feather" The local population is fast being written out of this now suberb of London.Stop, for Gods sake before the Star becomes a Starbucks!! Reason for complaint -my family was drinking in Bath even before the Naturals arrived. There should be a preservation order on names of boozers b4 its too late,or maybe it is as Bath is just another anytown UK.Mr Hudson get back to where you came from and give us back the Rat

Just happened to come across this website whilst researching for something else! Absolutely great!Lived in Bath up until just over 10 yrs ago and it brought a lump to my throat to see all the old watering holes and some that I once worked at!
Does anybody know who runs The Barley these days? Worked there for a while for Peter Heindorff - Where is he now? Please let me know if you have any information ! Ta

What a delight to see how Sam's looks these days! I was the on site manager for Bass Taverns from 1990-1993

Met my wife there (Yank) got married there - Parade Gardens and got canned every night!

Now in the San Francisco Bay Area soaking up the sun for 10 years.

I'm tea total now as enough was enough - hi to The Sydney Shattock Experience if they're still playing and all the fun staff I had ;) Good shags girls :)
